Day 27
Day 27: Using Idioms and Expressions in Conversations
Today, I focused on learning and using common English idioms and expressions to make my speaking more natural and interesting. My goal was to practice integrating these phrases into sentences smoothly.
What did I do today?
Learning Idioms:
I picked 10 common idioms (e.g., "break the ice," "a piece of cake," "under the weather") and studied their meanings and usage.
For each idiom, I created a simple sentence to practice how to use it naturally.
Speaking Practice:
I practiced using the idioms in short conversations. For example, I imagined talking about a tough day and said, “I was feeling under the weather, but I managed to finish my tasks.”
I also tried combining idioms with the vocabulary and phrases I’ve been learning over the past weeks.
Listening for Idioms:
I watched short videos and listened to podcasts to hear how native speakers use idioms. Whenever I caught an idiom, I paused and tried to repeat it in my own sentence.
How did I feel today?
At first, it felt strange to use idioms because I wasn’t sure if I was saying them naturally. But after practicing them in different contexts, I started feeling more confident. It was fun to learn phrases that give more color to conversations.
